Where Ethics & Environment Converge

We Gain a Sanctuary - Moccasin Valley

Today was monumental in the course of our movement. I met with the board of Moccasin Valley INC, at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls Minnesota to discuss the possibility of transferring the land for Moccasin Valley Camp over to the CEA. The members of the board absolutely loved the idea and decided to move forward with the mission of the organization and ideas proposed. I was asked to join the board of Moccasin Valley INC. and form it into the governing board for the Council for Environmental Autonomy. A vote was taken to add me to the board of directors, and giving me full authority to transform Moccasin and the organization. The current members of the board have a deep love and connection to Moccasin Valley, but needed someone and something new to take the property to new and exciting places.

This marks the completion of a major personal milestone. I have been searching for land to begin conservation efforts on for quite some time. Many of the areas I was looking at where very remote, small in size, and extremely expensive. It was truly a blessing to have been told about the Moccasin Valley Board and their search for someone to care for the property. Moccasin Valley Camp is composed of 44 acres and is located in Erhard, Minnesota. With a permanent location secured, we can now begin the work of fundraising and enacting real change as we seek to fulfill our mission. Education, environmental preservation, expanding our moral community, and achieving autonomy for nature is within reach. There is still a steep journey to travel, and several summits that need to be scaled, but a large step has been taken in the right direction.

Much love goes out to the Moccasin Valley INC Board, and to all the help I have received along the way. Here's to a bright future!
